VETRI MADANI : Initiative Overview, Target Audience & Training Courses
1. INITIATIVE OVERVIEW
1.1 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
This initiative aims to uplift the Malaysian Indian community through targeted training programmes that enhance skills, improve career mobility, and strengthen overall workforce readiness.
The key objectives of VETRI are as follows:
Key Objectives:
- Enhance the skills, competencies, and professional value of the existing workforce within the Indian community by providing access to professional certifications or industry relevant skills, enabling greater career progression and income mobility.
- Equip unemployed individuals within the Indian community with industry relevant skills or professional certifications that improve job readiness and increase their competitiveness in securing employment opportunities.
1.2 TARGET AUDIENCE
Malaysian Indian community aged 16 - 50 years old within the category below:
- Existing Workforce
Individuals who are currently employed and seeking career advancement and requiring professional certifications or industry relevant skills to move into higher value roles. - Unemployed Individuals
Individuals who are school leavers/graduates/retrenched workers actively seeking employment but lacking industry relevant skills or professional certifications.
Notes: Subject to prior approval, individuals above 50 years of age may be considered on a case-by-case basis upon request submitted via email to strategicinitiatives@hrdcorp.gov.my
1.3 EXPECTED OUTCOME
The training course should achieve the following outcomes for participants, upon completion:
- Existing Workforce
Participants obtain professional certifications or industry relevant skills upon completion, enhancing their skills and enabling greater career progression and upward mobility. - Unemployed Individuals
Participants obtain professional certifications or industry relevant skills upon completion that strengthen their resume beyond academic qualifications and improve their overall employability.
1.4 TRAINING COURSES
- Training programmes proposed under VETRI must be aligned with national priorities outlined in the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13), particularly in strengthening future workforce capabilities, enhancing productivity, accelerating digital adoption, and supporting high value industries.
- Training providers are required to design proposed courses based on relevant supporting studies, industry needs, and data driven insights to ensure alignment with the intended programme outcomes.
