FAQs: Remote Online Training (ROT)

1.      What can be claimed under Remote Online Training (ROT)?

a.      Maximum fees for seven (7) hours of training including SST.

·     Course Fee: In-House ROT

o  RM6,000/ group/ day for soft skills programmes

o  RM6,000/ group/ day for technical programmes

·     Course Fee: Public Programme

o  Maximum of RM700/ pax/ day covering       


b.       Certification and examination fees as quoted by a certification and/or examination body.

c.       Internet data cost of RM100/ group that was spent by the employer. No supporting document is required.

d.       HRD Corp-approved training materials, claimable by Training Provider under course fee.


 

2.      What is the minimum training duration required for employers to apply for a grant under ROT?

a.       The minimum training duration is four (4) hours.

b.       The minimum training hours can be accumulated to meet the minimum training duration requirement.


 

3.      What are the required supporting documents needed to apply for a grant under Remote Online Training?

a.       Course Content – detailing the training date and time as well as the overall training schedule.

b.       Invoice or Quotation

c.       Trainer’s Profile

d.       Professional Certification/ Examination Fees - quoted by the certification/ examination body.

e.       Letter - outlining the cost breakdown for joint training programmes

 

4.      What are the information and documents required for the claims submission under ROT? 

The following information and documents must be included in the claims:

a.       Official Receipt

b.       Invoice and Payment Voucher

c.       System-Generated Attendance Report

 

5.      What if more than one training delivery method was used to conduct a programme?

Training programmes involving more than one type of learning methods should be classified as a hybrid. The training schedule should indicate the learning method for each session, together with the specified training date and time. 


6.    What happens if a training session was interrupted due to a technical issue? Will HRD Corp allow the organiser to change the training to another date? If yes, what happens the participant’s initial approval? 

Employers who wish to change an approved physical training programme to an ROT must submit a modification to their approved grant. The training can only take place once the modification has been approved. The new approval will only cover the course fee.


 

7.      Is the internet subscription eligibility calculated per company or individual?

The internet data cost is only applicable for In-House ROT and is calculated on a per group basis.


 

8.      What is claimable under HRD Corp-approved licensed digital materials?

Licensed digital materials refer to the material used during the learning session as provided by the license holder. Prior approval must be obtained from HRD Corp for the use of the licensed material, and the approval letter should be attached during the submission of the grant application.


 

9.      How do employers calculate the allowable costs claimable under ROT?

The costs can be calculated through the following scenarios:  

Scenario 1 – Public Programme (Non-Certification)

·         Number of Trainees: 2 pax

·         Training Duration: 2 days

·         Course Fee Quoted: RM4,000

·         Calculation of Financial Assistance:  RM700 x 2 days x 2 pax = RM2,800 (Maximum Eligibility)

 

Balance of RM1,200 to be borne by the employer.

 

Scenario 2 – In-House Programme (Non-Certification)

·         Number of Trainees: 20 pax (1 group)

·         Training Duratoin: 2 days

·         Course Fee: RM14,000

·         Calculation of Financial Assistance: 

RM6,000 x 2 days x 1 group = RM12,000 (Maximum Eligibility)

 

Balance of RM2,000 to be borne by the employer.

 

Scenario 3 – Public Programme (Professional Certification/ Development)

·                Number of Trainees: 10 pax

·                Training Duration: 5 days

·                Course Fee: RM5,000 per pax

·                Certification Fee: RM1,000 per pax

·                Exam Fee: RM500 per pax

·                Calculation of Financial Assistance (Course Fee):

    RM700 x 5 days x 10 pax = RM35,000 (Maximum Eligibility including SST)

·                Calculation of Financial Assistance (Certification Fee + Exam Fee):

    RM1,500 x 10 pax = RM15,000

 

Note: The Certification and Examination fees are based on what is quoted by the certification body.

 

 

Scenario 4 – In-house Programme (Professional Certification/ Development)

·         Number of Trainees: 15 pax (1 group)

·         Training Duration: 5 days

·         Course Fee: RM50,000

·         Certification Fee: RM1,000 per pax

·         Exam Fee: RM500 per pax

·         Calculation of Financial Assistance (Course Fee):

RM700 x 5 days x 15 pax = RM52,500 (Maximum Eligibility)

·          Calculation of Financial Assistance (Certification Fee + Exam Fee):

RM1,500 x 10 pax = RM15,000

 

Note: The Certification and Examination fees are based on what is quoted by the certification body. For Professional Certification, the trainer’s fee will be based on the number of trainees.
